In 1982, he graduated from the Technology Department of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, and graduated from Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts in 1985, and graduated from Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts in -1987. In 2007, he received his Ph.D. in engineering from Northeast Forestry University. He was appointed dean of Qiqihar University art school from 2000 to 2010.
